Meghalaya | Alert issued as Umiam water level rises

The Chief Engineer (C), Maintenance & Small Hydro, MePGCL, Shillong, has issued an alert to all persons residing or working close to the dam to remain cautious and refrain from any activity near the banks of the river Umiam, as the water levels may suddenly rise due to the opening of gates of the dam.

The water level of the Umiam reservoir has risen up to 3205.07 ft as on September 4 owing to incessant rainfall in the last few days.

In case the weather remains the same, the reservoir will become full and this will make way for the opening of the gates of the dam to allow the water to pass through.
