Meghalaya: Abducted Axis bank employee released
The Axis bank employee of Tura, who was abducted about four days ago, was apparently released by the criminals after the alleged exchange of money.
It may be noted that 32-year-old Jyotirmoy Burman was kidnapped by a group of armed criminals between the Tura – Dalu road while he was returning from Guwahati in Assam on March 28 morning.
Following the abduction, a special investigation team of West Garo Hills (WGH) police led by the SDPO of Dadenggre was formed to rescue the victim and arrest the culprits involved.
The bank agent was released on March 30 after ransom was paid by the family members to the gang behind the abduction.
Confirming the release, Superintendent of Police, WGH, Dr MGR Kumar stated that clues have been found on the people behind the episode and a search operation was still on to nab the culprits.
