MDA will defeat Congress’ resolution to remove Assembly Speaker: CM Sangma

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) is united and it will make sure that all attempts of the Opposition Congress to remove the Assembly Speaker are defeated.

“We are going to make sure that the resolution is defeated. The MDA is united and we will ensure that the motion is defeated when it is brought to the floor of the House. We will see the procedures how it goes and accordingly, things will unfold,” he said after a MDA meeting on Wednesday evening.

CM Sangma also added that today’s meeting was held to discuss the upcoming Assembly session which will start on September 10. “The entire objective was to bring the entire MDA partners together to prepare for the upcoming Assembly session,” he added.

On September 3, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader and leader of Opposition, Dr Mukul Sangma had said that they will be moving a resolution for the removal of Metbah Lyngdoh from the office of Assembly Speaker in the upcoming Autumn Session. 

Speaking about his Delhi visit, Sangma informed that he met the vice-chairman of NITI Aayog, Dr Rajiv Kumar and discussed various issues including a few externally aided projects which are stuck with the public policy think tank, and the vice-chairman has assured him that they will soon be cleared.
