Meghalaya: Mairang student tops SSLC exams

The much-awaited results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination were declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) this morning at 11 am.

The Class X results were full of surprises as it saw schools of the state like St. Thomas HS School, Mairang (West Khasi Hills) and Sawlyngdoh HS School of Mowkaiaw (West Jaintia Hills) beat prominent schools in Shillong to bag the first and second position in the top 20 list.

Kevinstrong Lawriniang, a student from St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Mairang emerged as the topper securing 576 marks out of 600.

Wanteibok Pator from Sawlyngdoh Higher Secondary School, Mowkaiaw, bagged the second position securing 575 marks followed by Kashish Samee of St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, Shillong and Mridumay Saha of Sherwood School, Tura, who jointly secured the third place with 574 marks.

The top 20 list was a mixed bag of students from different schools spread across the state.

Congratulating the students, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma wrote, "Kudos to the toppers who have done their parents, teachers and school/college proud! Wishing each of you a successful future."

Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui also took to Twitter to congratulate all the students who have passed their SSLC and HSSLC examination this year.
