NONGPOH:

The local legislator of Jirang Constituency, Sosthenes Sohtun has taken an initiative in setting up Corona Care Centre (CCC) at Byrnihat to accommodate those residents who are infected by COVID-19.

The permission was granted by the school authority and the Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Byrnihat, Fr Anil Joseph.

Before accommodating infected COVID-19 patients, the meeting was held on June 2 in the school premises in the presence of the local MLA, Sosthenes Sohtun, MDC, Victor Rani, Deputy Commissioner, R.M Kurbah, District Medical & Health Officer, Dr M. Mawrie and the village leaders of Byrnihat.

Addressing the meeting, Sosthenes Sohtun informed to reach the urgent need of the people of his constituency, two Corona Care Centres (CCC) will be set up in Jirang constituency which include Don Bosco Corona Care Centre and one at Patharkhmah CHC.

“The initiative to set up this Corona Care Centre is to ease the local people who are infected by COVID-19 as the only CCC being set up by the District administration cannot accommodate all Covid-19 patients in the District,” Sosthenes Sohtun said.

To contain the sharp spike of COVID-19 in the constituency and district, Sosthenes Sohtun has also appealed to the people to follow all government protocols, so that the outbreak of COVID-19 can be prevented, he added.
