SHILLONG:

The Meghalaya state spokesperson of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Dr Bernard T Lyngdoh, said that the central body has called for a nationwide protest on December 8 and 11 to oppose the mix up of medical systems.

A recent circular of Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) allows Ayurvedic post-graduate doctors to perform various surgeries which are otherwise carried out by highly trained surgical skills surgeons.

"The IMA opposes the proposal and demands immediate withdrawal," stated the press release.

All IMA members from Meghalaya and doctors from modern medicine who support the IMA's have been asked to wear black badges on December 8.
