SHILLONG:

Cabinet Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh on Friday said that he was approached by the Congress leadership to rejoin the party.

“Bah Vincent Pala encourage me to get back to Congress. I had joined the Congress when I was an MDC, but later due to some issues, I moved to PDF," said the president of People's Democratic Front (PDF).

He, however, stressed that despite their ideological differences, he will continue to be friends with the newly appointed president of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).

Lyngdoh further added that both the political parties have the common motto to serve the public, and he will continue to do so being the president of PDF. “My focus is to strengthen my party and I am not re-joining the Congress,” he said.

Of late, the Congress, under the leadership of Pala, in its attempt to revive the party in the state, has been approaching leaders who had deserted the party to join others.
