SHILLONG:

The United Democratic Party (UDP) Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui has informed that he is still the Home Minister of Meghalaya as Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is yet to accept the letter he had sent requesting he be relieved from the Home portfolio.

“The matter is under examination, and till the process is complete, I will continue to look after the (Home) department,” he said.

Reacting to the statement made by newly-appointed Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief, Vincent Pala, that the UDP has misused the Home department for illegal collection along the national highways, Rymbui said that Congress is making such accusations out of sheer frustration.

It is saddening that the President of MPCC is making such allegations. The UDP will never politicise any department for the benefit of the party," Rymbui added. The Home Minister maintained that the Congress party is in shambles and hence, trying all possible means to get back in power. “And such allegations are a reflection of that,” he said.
