Home Minister Amit Shah to hold several meetings during his visit to Meghalaya

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, on Friday, informed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in the state for two days, and hold several meetings during his stay.


Addressing a press conference here in the city, Sangma said, “There is a tentative programme and Shah will be here for two days. He will hold a meeting with North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), and will also inaugurate some projects in Shillong."


He will also have a meeting with the Chief Ministers of the Northeastern states, the Chief Minister informed.


It was also informed that the Home Minister will also visit Sohra and inaugurate a project there.


The CM said that various organisations from the state have put their requests to meet the Home Minister, and asked time for the same.


Road Projects


The Chief Minister has expressed hope in getting projects under the Central Road Fund (CRF) with interventions from the Ministry of Finance and the State Finance Department.


“We have submitted additional projects for the Central Road Fund and also asked for additional funds to take up more projects on national highways. On both fronts, we have got a very positive response from the government of India and hopeful to get more additional funds for additional projects in this financial year under National Highway,” Sangma said on Friday.

The Chief Minister also informed that the state is eligible for some pending dues amounting to approximately Rs 70 crore, and the central government has agreed to release the funds immediately.


 

It was informed that the Chief Minister met the Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and discussed matters pertaining to some other projects in the state.


 “We have also asked for additional 70 projects to be taken up under minor irrigation and the government of India is positively considering those projects also,” Sangma added.
