SHILLONG:

The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has written to the Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong to exempt pregnant women to work during the lockdown.

In a memorandum to Tynsong, the organization pointed out that pregnant women are compelled to attend their duty amidst the COVID-19 second wave.

The organization said that if any pregnant woman is found to be COVID positive while on duty, the government shall take the responsibility and bear all the cost.

“As far as the knowledge of the HITO is concerned it noted that during the first wave of the COVID-19 in 2020 all the pregnant women were exempted from work but during this second wave they were forced to work,” the organization added.
