Health Minister AL Hek visits Ri-Bhoi to take stock of Corona Care Centre at MCH
In view of the state government of Meghalaya to dedicate a Corona Care Centre in Ri Bhoi District by temporarily converting the 100 bedded Maternity Children Hospital in Umran, on Friday the Health Minister of the state paid a visit to take stock of the construction and infrastructure that need to be in place.
It may be mentioned that Ri Bhoi District is one of the most affected districts during the COVID-19 pandemic after East Khasi Hills and till date the District has only one Corona Care Centre which is in Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
During the inspection to the MCH, the minister was accompanied by the Health Department official of the state including Dr Aman Warr, Director DHS (MI), Nongpoh Constituency MLA Mayralborn Syiem, Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, DMHO Dr. M. Mawrie and other officials from different line of departments.
Speaking to mediapersons, A. L. Hek said that, the state government is committed to fulfil its decision to dedicate one more Corona Care Centre in Ri Bhoi District by temporarily converting the MCH Hospital.
However, he also said that, regarding the installation of the transformer for power connectivity and the approach to PWD road, the District Administration has taken this up with the state government.
Aman Warr, Director DHS MI said that TATA Trust has expressed their willingness to extend their support to the state government of Meghalaya by assuring in providing medical equipments at the MCH Hospital and the last call will be taken by the TATA Trust.
The Health Minister also paid his visit to the Nongpoh Civil Hospital to inspect the Oxygen Generation plant, which is under construction and the functioning of the Centralized Oxygen Supply System installed in the hospital.
