SHILLONG:

Member of district council of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Rinaldo K. Sangma has called for attention from the government on the deplorable conditions of roads in Resubelpara and adjoining areas.

In a letter to Sangma, Rinaldo highlighted the hardships and grievances of the people residing in Resubelpara and the adjacent areas due to the shabby road conditions.

"Residents of Resubelpara and Mendipathar area are going through a nightmare dealing with the road conditions, with massive potholes almost every two meters distance in the artery," Sangma mentioned in the latter.

He further claimed that Badri Rai company, to whom the construction work was allotted, has kept works at abeyance, and the general public are bearing the inconvenience and brunt of their negligence.

"The earth cutting along the stretch of Resu Dekachang to Beru Bari has caused many difficulties, disruption in communication and minor accidents are occurring on a daily basis," Sangma further added.

Sangma through the letter also pointed out that major bridges in and around the Resubelpara area are wooden and require urgent repairs.

“Time and again, countless pleas have been made to convert these major connecting wooden bridges to RCC bridges for convenient rural connectivity but they have fallen to deaf ears," said Sangma.
