NONGPOH:

Chief adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, Dr D. D. Lapang on Monday appealed to the residents of Ri-Bhoi district and state to come forward to get themselves vaccinated.

Speaking to media persons at the Circuit House, Nongpoh, Lapang said that it is the duty of the people to cooperate with the government to take preventive measures and to get vaccinated so that they will be self-protected.

“Based on history, many people in the world are affected by many diseases like diphtheria, polio, leprosy, and measles which had been widely spread in those days, but it is only through vaccines introduced the diseases could be eradicated,” Lapang reiterated.

On vaccine hesitancy, Dr Lapang requested the public that it is their duty to come forward in getting proper information from health experts as he understood not only in rural areas but even in the city many people are still unwilling to get themselves vaccinated.
