Meghalaya: Demand for upgrading Sohra Civil sub-division gathers momentum
The Sohra District Demand Forum (Executive Committee) has maintained that it will continue to pursue its demand for upgrading Sohra Civil sub-division to Sohra District.
In a statement issued here, the forum stated it held a meeting on July 10 at the Office of the Syiem of Hima Sohra and unanimously remained firm in their demand to upgrade Sohra into a district.
The forum will soon send a reminder to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and the meeting also decided that the headquarter of the district should be at Sohra.
The forum mentioned the land and office space is available for the District office and said it will pursue its demand since it has done in 2018.
It also stated that it was taken aback after it was announced that the Chief Minister has stalled the demand for Sohra district because of geographical problems and the forum found it unacceptable.
The meeting also decided it will meet the Chief Minister soon to apprise the matter.
