SHILLONG:

Meghalaya on Friday reported 941 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day recovery recorded to date, outnumbering the new cases.

According to the bulletin, the state recorded 731 fresh COVID-19 cases with 941 recoveries, 20 deaths, taking the total death toll to 544.

The state's positivity rate which stands at 23.72 per cent is still a matter of concern for the government as compared to the national average, which is hovering around 9 per cent.

Meghalaya has been witnessing a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases during the second wave, and the government has put in place all containment measures to flatten the COVID curve.

The government has been ramping up health facilities in the state to manage the situation better.

The major area of concern for the government right now is to minimise the death count in the state in addition to increasing the recovery rate.

The steady dip in the number of cases in Meghalaya is indeed a positive sign for the state.
