NONGPOH:

Members of the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CORP) on Monday slammed the Education department for deserting the construction of one centrally sponsored residential school at Myrdon Mawtari in Ri-Bhoi district.

Speaking to TNT-The Northeast Today, Shiningstar Kyntla, representative of CORP, Central Zone, expressed grief concern to learn that the state government along with the Education department has deserted the construction of the school which can be beneficial to the people especially from the underprivileged background.

“The CORP is requesting the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui to take up the matter seriously so that public money would not go to waste, if the government cannot act promptly we will be compelled to take drastic steps,” Kyntla said.

He added the construction of the school building is almost 80 per cent completed but the remaining part has been left since 2012 to 2013 with best knowledge known to the higher authorities of the state government.

It may be mentioned the residential school was sanctioned at an amount of Rupees 4 crore 50 lakh.
