SHILLONG:

United Democratic Forum (UDF), the opposition alliance in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), has been dissolved, and it will have Member of District Council (MDCs) exclusively from the Congress.

Speaking to The Northeast Today (TNT) on Monday, a Congress MDC, who didn’t want to be named, said, "The Congress MDCs have decided to dissolve UDF and call it Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP). This is after PN Syiem joined the Congress party."

Notably, the UDF presently has nine MDCs, and more MDCs are likely to join the Congress, the MDC added.

Predicting a Congress wave, the Congress MDC said, "Some more MDCs will join the Congress, increasing the strength of the CPP in the KHADC."

On the other hand, Congress MDC PN Syiem is the spokesperson of CPP, along with Congress MDC Ronnie Lyngdoh.
