Christians in India to observe July 3 as Indian Christian Day

SHILLONG:

A committee of Christian leaders, including many from Northeast India, said July 3 will be observed as ‘Indian Christian Day’ across all Christian denominations in India.

The day, which also commemorates the death anniversary of St. Thomas, will be marked for all Christians to “come together in solidarity” and promote unity, secretary of the committee Bijoy Sangma said.

“There is a need for Christians to be aware of their responsibility towards nation building and duty towards society,” Sangma said, adding youths have a significant role to play in the initiative.

Programmes to commemorate the day will be held online because of the current COVID-19 restrictions, Sangma said.
