The Central Puja Committee (CPC) of Meghalaya has condemned the recent vandalisation of Durga Puja pandals and attacks on Hindu minorities in various parts of Bangladesh.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the CPC highlighted the blatant violation of freedom of religion of the Hindu minorities of Bangladesh and hoped that the Sheikh Hasina government will take appropriate action against the miscreants.

Terming the attack to be premeditated, the committee said, “Bangladesh government has to initiate stringent measures to bring a closure to the rising fundamentalism and intolerance, raging through the country against all minority religious groups.”

CPC has also decided to submit a memorandum through the Governor and Chief Minister of Meghalaya, drawing the immediate attention of heads of state and governments of both India and Bangladesh, urging them to immediately rein in the culprits and bring an immediate halt to the widespread violence against the Hindu minorities.
