AL Hek to pursue Meghalaya govt to declare Sohra a district
Bharatiya Janata Party MLA and former Health Minister, AL Hek, who was recently appointed as the advisor to Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, stated that he would pursue the government to declare Sohra a district.
"As an adviser to the CM, one of my first advices will be to declare Sohra a district in Meghalaya. The town deserves that status because of its unique features," Hek said while maintaining that the place is well known to everyone across India and beyond.
"Sohra is known internationally. And people from outside Meghalaya often think that Meghalaya is in Sohra, but it’s the other way round. So, I think Sohra deserves the district status," Hek added.
