SHILLONG:

Jasmine Lyngdoh, on March 25, said that she is ready to lock horns with All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) state president, Charles Pyngrope, in Nongthymmai in the upcoming 2023 Assembly elections.

This comes in the wake of Jasmine, sister of politicians Ampareen Lyngdoh and Robert G Lyngdoh, joining the National People’s Party (NPP) on February 23.

“We are working hard and meeting people to let them know about our plans. It will be tough for him (Pyngrope),” she said, adding that one of her key priorities is to guide the youth of the state.

On her interest in politics, she said, “As wards of (late) Peter Garnett Marbaniang, politics is in our genes. We will take this responsibility and be ready for elections next year, under the guidance of my sister and brothers.”

Notably, Marbaniang was a politician who had served as a Lok Sabha MP and Speaker of Meghalaya.
