Meghalaya: Two-day Annual Assam Rifles Commanders’ Conference begins

The two-day Annual Assam Rifles Commanders’ Conference began at the HQ Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) in Shillong, Meghalaya, on March 23.

The conference aims to highlight the contributions of the para-military force in the Northeastern region since its inception and is part of a series of events commemorating the 186th Raising Day of Assam Rifles.

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Eastern Command, Lt. Gen. Anil Chauhan, addressed all Commanders of the Force and lauded them for their professionalism, commitment and dedication to duty in the challenging conditions of the Northeast.

The General Officer conveyed his best wishes to all ranks of the force on the 186th Raising Day and encouraged them to continue with their untiring efforts in upholding the highest traditions of their service to the Nation in the years to come.

The Director-General of Assam Rifles, Lt. Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, informed that the conference would seek solutions to the challenges faced in maintaining the internal peace and security of the Northeastern States and issues related to security along the Indo-Myanmar Border.

The two-day conference shall also delve into issues like Force Modernisation, Smart Solutions and Leveraging Technology for Operational, Administrative and Man Management aspects.

With the motto “Sentinels of the Northeast”, the Assam Rifles have been at the forefront in maintaining peace and security in the region.

Exclusive to the Northeast, the force has been involved in anti-insurgency operations, relief efforts, disaster management, peacekeeping and humanitarian efforts in the region.
