Meghalaya: Ri Bhoi police seizes narcotics worth over ₹ 3 crore

Ri Bhoi police on Monday detained a drug peddler at Pahammawlein village in Ri Bhoi district and also seized a huge consignment of heroin worth more than ₹ 3 crore, 50 lakh from his possession.

The drug peddler identified as Jamgoulen Hoakip, a 23-year-old hailed from the state of Manipur.

According to sources, the alleged drug peddler boarded a night super bus from Guwahati to Shillong. On reaching the toll plaza of Pahammawlein in Ri Bhoi District, local youths on duty saw the man walking through and started questioning his identity.

On reaching the spot, police personnel investigated the accused and found a huge consignment of heroin concealed in one of his bags, sources said.
