Meghalaya: Municipal Board reminds Govt & building owners to pay taxes

WILLIAMNAGAR:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Williamnagar Municipal Board (WMB) has issued a notification reminding several State Government departments and the owners of private buildings in Williamnagar to pay the property and holding taxes.

“The payment of such taxes is mandated for the maintenance and upkeep of the local civic amenities like cleanliness, solid waste management and sewage system, etc., required to be levied under Section 68 of the Meghalaya Municipal Act, 1973,” the notification stated.

The notification also informed that neither the government departments nor the owners of private buildings paid their taxes.
