Meghalaya Deputy CM inaugurates Bailey bridge along Shillong Bypass

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on March 25, inaugurated the bailey bridge along the Shillong Bypass at Dwar Ksuid in Ri-Bhoi district.

The Bailey bridge, which will facilitate the transportation of essential commodities, was inaugurated in the presence of Sohiong MLA Samlin Malngiang and Umroi MLA George B Lyngdoh, Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, R.M Kurbah, officials from NHAI and BRO among others.

Speaking to mediapersons, Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya Prestone Tynsong lauded the initiatives of the Border Road Organizations (BRO) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for their effort to complete the Bailey bridge at the earliest to cater to the need of better and safer connectivity for public travelling through the Shillong By-pass via Dwarksuid Bridge in Ri Bhoi District.

He also informed that the permissible load of the Bailey Bridge is 40 MT and the bridge will only allow for one way both incoming and outgoing for the loaded trucks which will be regulated by the Police to be stationed in the Bailey bridge.

We may note that district authorities had earlier expected the Bailey Bridge to be completed by March 23.
