World War II airfield in Imphal East to be acquired by State government


Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh had chaired a review meeting on the transfer of land under the old airfield at Koirengei in Imphal East district to the Manipur Government.

A high-level committee constituted to look into the shifting of the security forces from the old airfield at Koirengei to 33-Keingam near 57 Mountain Division at Leimakhong.

The old airfield was constructed during the Second World War by the Allied forces to check the Japanese advancement is said to be 74.24 acres in area.

The Chief Minister also chaired another meeting on the acquisition of land for the construction of a 60 bedded Maternity and Child Hospital in a minority concentrated area.

The meeting was said to be attended by Sapam Ranjan, MLA and Advisor to CM(Health), Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Health) and other concerned officials.
