Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Manipur this month (November) to discuss the Naga peace deal with all the stakeholders of the state, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said on Thursday.
Speaking to media persons at the CM’s secretariat compound on Thursday, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was in Manipur for the election campaign for the recently concluded assembly by-polls, had told Singh that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah wanted to meet him and former Chief Minister and opposition leader O. Ibobi Singh in New Delhi to discuss Manipur’s stand on the Naga peace deal.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh also said that as the state government was busy with the by-polls and results in the second week of November, the meeting has not materialised yet.
Whether the meeting is held in Delhi or Imphal, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the state government’s stand for the territorial integrity of Manipur is "non-negotiable".
