To ease the inconvenience faced by pensioners, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh launched the mPension Manipur App on January 4, where pensioners can self-update without going to the treasury office.

“Previously, every pensioner had to visit the treasury office every six months to update their photograph, but launching the mPension Manipur, pensioners can now periodically update their photographs through a smartphone or a desktop from the comforts of their home”, Chief Minister Biren Singh said.

It is said that mPension Manipur also provides facilities such as sending feedback to the Treasury office, making queries online and notifying pensioners on the status of the photographs submitted.

The App also uses Artificial Intelligence(AI) to detect whether the pensioner is alive or dead from the updated photographs and will only allow uploading photographs taken from living individuals.
