IMPHAL:

With the Indian government announcing vaccination for adults above the age of 18 from May 1, many states are yet to start the process due to the shortage of the vaccine.

Manipur government stated that the process will not start immediately despite people having registered for the same due to the delay in receiving the vaccine consignments.

The state health society issued a memorandum stating that the vaccination for the age group 18-44 years shall commence as soon as the manufacturers send the vaccine consignment to the state.

Manipur has placed an order of three lakh doses of the vaccine from the Serum Institute of India (SII), Pune.

The state government has set up dedicated COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs) and plans to vaccinate 100 beneficiaries per day at each CVCs, stated the order.
