Manipur CM lays foundation stone for Lokayukta building

IMPHAL | SEPT 14, 2020:

Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Lokayukta office building at Lamphelpat in Manipur through video conferencing from the Chief Minister's Secretariat, on Monday.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, " Lokayukta is for transparent and corruption-free governance. It is giving a search warrant to investigate any wrongdoings by government servants."

It has been two years since April 2018 that a Lokayukta has been constituted, he added.

He also said that numerous steps have been taken by the government to make a governance corruption-free that includes an initiative for e-office and Meeyamgi numit (People's Day wherein ordinary people can come and speak about their grievances to the Chief Minister).

Others who attended the inaugural function were, Justice T. Nandakumar Singh, Chairperson of Lokayukta, Law Minister L. Jayantakumar Singh and Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar.
