Manipur board exams postponed, schools & coaching centres to remain shut

The Government of Manipur, on Monday, announced the postponement of all matriculation and higher secondary examinations scheduled to be held from May 6 and May 5 respectively.

Confirming the development, the Commissioner of Education, T Ranjit Singh, issued an order stating that the government would postpone the board exams for Class 10 and 12 “because of concerns over rising COVID-19 cases in the state.”

“Classes on school campuses that began on January 27 for students of Classes 11 and 12 were also suspended with immediate effect, and they will resume online classes at the earliest,” the order stated.

The State Government also ordered all coaching centres, boardings, and hostels to be closed.

On Monday, Manipur reported 54 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of active cases to 296.
