Manipur BJP president S Tikendra Singh laid to rest, Chief Minister pays tribute

Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh attended the last rites of the party leader at Nambol Sabal Leikai in Imphal and paid floral tribute to the political veteran.

Manipur State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Prof. Saikhom Tikendra Singh passed away on Thursday evening after a brief battle with COVID-19.

Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh attended the last rites of the party leader at Nambol Sabal Leikai in Imphal and paid floral tribute to the political veteran.

“With a heavy heart, I paid my floral tribute to Prof S Tikendra Singh, president BJP Manipur at his last rite at Nambol Sabal Leikai. Oja (sir) Tiken was a man of commitment and integrity who had worked tirelessly to strengthen BJP in Manipur over the year,” the Chief Minister wrote on Twitter.

Biren Singh said that Prof Saikhom dedication and sacrifice towards the service of the people and the party will always inspire the BJP leadership to carry his legacy forward.

Biren Singh also met the bereaved family members of Prof. Saikhom and expressed his heartfelt condolences.

Prof. Saikhom had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 27 and was undergoing treatment at JNIMS Hospital since April 30.

Later on, he was shifted to Shija Hospital, where he was kept in ICU after his condition deteriorated, and eventually succumbed to the virus on Thursday evening.
