Govt college teachers of Manipur set deadline for pay revision

IMPHAL:

Federation of Government College Teachers’ Associations (FEGOCTA), Manipur on Sunday had set January 27 as a deadline for the government to address their long-pending demand of pay revision.

The FEGOCTA has been constantly demanding for the adoption of the 7th University Grants Commission (UGC) Pay and Regulations, 2018 guideline.

The state government had agreed to adopt the pay structure of UGC, but an order regarding the matter was yet to be issued, FEGOCTA said.

Leaders of the FEGOCTA appealed to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister to issue an order latest by January 27, FEGOCTA General Secretary Dr N Somorendro said.

“If the government cannot fulfil our demand within the stipulated time, teachers will resume the suspended agitations from January 28, until the order is passed,” Morung Express quoted Somorendro.

“We have no intention of doing anything that affects our students, but we are no longer able to bear the pain the state government is causing us. This sheerly violates our rights,” Somorendro added.
