COVID updates: Manipur Govt imposes night curfew from 7 pm till 5 am

As per the order issued by Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar on Monday, all gatherings are banned, with immediate effect, except for unavoidable religious rituals and ceremonies.

Considering the rise of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Manipur government has imposed a night curfew from 7 pm till 5 am with effect from Monday. 

The decision was taken following a review meeting of the State consultative committee for Covid-19 on Sunday. 

As per the order issued by Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar on Monday, all gatherings are banned, with immediate effect, except for unavoidable religious rituals and ceremonies. 

"Such gatherings will be strictly limited to a maximum of 20 people," the order read.

It further stated that all shops and markets should ensure the wearing of face mask.

"Crowding in tourist and historical sites are to be stopped with immediate effect," it further added. 

Essential services, media persons, and those engaged in Telecom services and time-bound project constructions are exempted from the night curfew.
