Bird flu scare: Manipur government imposes temporary ban on entry of poultry

The Manipur Governor has imposed a temporary ban on the entry of poultry and poultry products as a precautionary measure through all the National Highways connecting Manipur including the airport.

The order is in view of the reported outbreak of the highly pathogenic Avian Influenza in some of the states in the country, said an order issued by the Animal and Husbandry Department.

The order also instructed Deputy Commissioners, District Superintendent of Police and District Veterinary officers of the border districts to take all the necessary measures to stop the movement of birds and eggs and directed the Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Manipur to take immediate steps for active targeted surveillance against the disease.
