Tinsukia police arrest second suspect in Tingrai grenade blast case

Intensifying their probe into the Tingrai Bazaar grenade blast case, Assam police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the incident. 

The accused, identified as Hiren Gogoi, was arrested from his residence at Lakhipather in the Tinsukia district. 

Sources reported that his motorcycle was found identical to the one used by the miscreants in the Tingrai Bazaar grenade blast case.

Security agencies further reported that Hiren Gogoi was involved in crimes like extortions. 

"Hiren Gogoi is under our custody, and we have started interrogating him. We have found enough clues in (connection with) the case, and very soon, we will crack the case," a police official stated. 

Earlier on Friday, the police had detained one person, identified as Dipen Saikia from Tamuli Bongaon in Digboi, for his alleged involvement in the case. 

Two people were killed while two others remained seriously injured in a grenade blast that occurred at the Tingrai market in the Tinsukia district on Friday last.

The deceased have been identified as Sanjit Singh (25) and Suraj Talukdar(22), both residents of the Tingrai region.

Notably, Tinsukia police have announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh for those providing information about the miscreants.
