Songs of Assamese origin top Billboard World Chart; Thanks to Rupam Sarmah!

GUWAHATI, Oct 26, 2017: Internationally acclaimed artist from Assam, Rupam Sarmah has done it again!

This time he created history by becoming the first Assamese to get his album featured in the top chart of the BillBoard World Albums Chart.

TOGETHER IN PEACE–Directed by Rupam Sarmah from Assam currently living in California, charted #1 on Billboard Heatseekers Mid-Atlantic Chart and #2 on Billboard World Albums chart. Billboard is one of the most recognized charts in the World for popular music.

His album was performed and released on Sep 21st in Times Square, New York. The Together in Peace project includes music of Assamese origin such as Bihu geet, Borgeet, O Mur Apunar Desh (Bishnu Rabha version) along with contemporary instrumental, classical, jazz and other styles of music.

The featured artists in this album are Grammy winning Engineer Brian Vibberts who worked with Michael Jackson, Rock and Roll Hall of fame Alan White of YES! band who recorded with two Beatles — John Lennon, George Harrison, Kevin Mackie, and many others.

Rupam has done Assam proud on many occasions. Rupam Sarmah has dedicated his life to promote and popularize Indian music, culture, especially Assamese music and arts to international platform.

It may be mentioned that Sarmah made a Guinness World Record on 24 February 2013 for his project 'A Musical Journey for World Peace' which united more than 500 participants from across the globe who played 315 kinds of musical instruments for world peace. The adjudicator Mr. Jack Brockbank from Guinness World Records declared it as a world record.
