DIBRUGARH:

One of the top leaders of the ULFA-I, Jibon Asom aka Jibon Moran, will return home after 37 years because of his deteriorating health.

The 65-year-old Moran underwent training in Burma after joining the ULFA in 1984 and witnessed several events, including Operation Bajrang in 1990 and Operation All Clear in Bhutan in 2003.

According to sources, the outfit allowed him to return home after he requested to retire on medical grounds.

Moran served as the finance secretary during his time with the ULFA-I.
“With effect from today, April 25, 2021, you (Jibon Asom) have been relieved from all duties and responsibilities of the organisation (ULFA-I),” read an official ULFA-I statement.

Moran is a resident of Uban village in Kakopathar under Assam’s Tinsukia district.
