Assam: Oil India extends financial assistance to 410 joint liability groups

To generate self-employment, the Oil India Limited, under its CSR project, ‘Rupantar’ organised a credit disbursement program for 410 joint liability groups (JLGS) in the three districts of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, and Charaideo on Friday.

Support was extended to around 1930 families for the financial year, 2020-21 out of which 230 were female groups which received handloom units, 150 groups received farm mechanisation and 30 groups were handed agro product carriers.

Under this project, 100 women JLGs belonging to Baghjan, will receive looms and other assistance after they complete their mandatory training at growth centres.

Prasanta Borkakoty, resident chief executive, OIL FHQ graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of SP Deka, ED (ES, IC & DOR), and chairman of Project Rupantar Committee, among others.

Borkakoty congratulated the beneficiaries for receiving the assistance and urged them to work towards developing agricultural productivity, entrepreneurial attitude and collectively create a locally sustainable rural market through a cooperative movement.
