Dibrugarh police arrested a notorious drug trafficker from his residence on Wednesday.

Receiving an intelligence tipoff on the movement of drugs by a veteran trafficker, Mohammad Raja Ali, Dibrugarh police conducted a joint operation with 171bn of Central Reserve Police Force and arrested Ali from his residence.

“Raja Ali was a notorious drug trafficker who was earlier arrested and was sent to jail, but after a few days he received bail. In 2019, in a biggest drug haul in upper Assam, Dibrugarh, police seized 1.14 kg of heroin from Raja Ali’s house but he fled before the raid but after some days he was arrested and sent to jail under Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985,” a source said.
