Lightning kills 3 people in Assam’s Goalpara district
Three persons were killed and five others were injured after a lighting struck them at Assam’s Goalpara district on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Ronoti Boro (70), Nameswari Khaklari (75) and Kamal Kalita (35).
“The first incident was reported from Dudhnoi area of Goalpara where two elderly persons died after lighting fell on them when they were working in a field while five others were injured in the incident. In another incident at Dhopdhara in Piplibaria village, a youth who was working in the field died after a lightning strike,” said an official.
The injured persons were identified as Ajit Khaklari, Biswajit Khaklari, Anjali Khaklari, Jhanavi Khaklari and Pronati Khaklari of Dudhnoi.
The official said, “We have conducted the postmortem and the district administration will give compensation as per the rule”.
