Gunotsav to be conducted in Assam in two phases next year

The governement decided that the first phase of Gunotsav will be organised next year from April 5 to 7, and the second phase from April 20 to 22.

Gunotsav, an effort of the Assam government to track the performance of every child in the elementary level, assess their individual learning gap, and devise remedial measures to be taken for their improvement, will be conducted in the state in two phases in 2022.

This was decided in a meeting at Janata Bhavan here on December 12 in the presence of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The governement decided that the first phase of Gunotsav will be organised next year from April 5 to 7, and the second phase from April 20 to 22.

While discussing the detailed framework along with changes of parameters for scholastic evaluation to be carried under the initiative, the meet decided to hold the same in two phases so as to cover the maximum number of students.

Gunotsav is aimed at ensuring quality elementary education with an improved learning outcome, which the governement has been conducting since 2017.

The proposed Gunotsav will cover 46,251 government, provincialized and tea garden managed schools covering 42,51,524 students.

The chief minister has asked the officials to develop the implementation framework focusing on the celebration of quality and to ensure quality education with improved learning outcomes.

Adviser education Nani Gopal Mahanta, principal secretary education B Kalyan Chakraborty, and other senior officials of the education department were present at the meeting.
