Delhi-based Assam journalist succumbs to COVID-19

Bhattacharyya, who was working with The Times of India group, leaves behind her daughter and journalist husband Kalyan Barooah, who is the Delhi bureau chief of The Assam Tribune.

GUWAHATI:

New Delhi-based senior journalist from Assam, Nilakshi Bhattacharyya succumbed to COVID-19 at a private hospital in the national capital on Friday morning.

Bhattacharyya, who was working with The Times of India group, leaves behind her daughter and journalist husband Kalyan Barooah, who is the Delhi bureau chief of The Assam Tribune.

Barooah, who has also tested positive for COVID-19, is currently undergoing treatment and is said to be in a critical condition.

An avid mountaineer, Bhattacharyya was one of the founder members of a mountaineering and adventure sports group, Explorers.
