Assam: Body of missing 12-year-old recovered from Buridehing River 

On Thursday, the minor, a student of Class 5 at the Gyan Vigyan Academy, Dibrugarh, had gone missing after he had gone to swimming in the river at around 4 pm.

DIBRUGARH:

The dead body of a 12-year-old boy, who went missing on Thursday, was recovered from Buridehing River in Dibrugarh, on Saturday.

The body, identified as Ayushman Dowerah of Chowkidinghee, was spotted by locals floating on the river. The body has been sent for post mortem at Assam Medical College Hospital.

On Thursday, the minor, a student of Class 5 at the Gyan Vigyan Academy, Dibrugarh, had gone missing after he had gone to swimming in the river at around 4 pm.

According to the locals, Ayushman had a quarrel with one of his neighbours after which he took out Rs 500 from his father’s wallet and went out on his bicycle. The local residents had filed a missing report at Milan Nagar Police outpost, Dibrugarh, fearing he drowned in the river, on Thursday. 

Soon after, The National and State Disaster Response Force teams had initiated a search operation in the Buridehing River on Friday. The minor was last spotted at Jokai Khamtighat area with his bicycle, locals had said. 

Bokakhat Civil Administration and Police continuously monitoring the river.
