DHUBRI:

Dipankar Mazumder, a man from Dhubri district of Assam has taken the pledge to free Dhubri of coronavirus by educating people about the efficacy of the vaccines, especially those coming from the underprivileged section of the society, amid reports that many were hesitant to get themselves vaccinated.

36-year-old Mazumder, a medical representative by profession, has been moving door to door on his motorcycle, trying to bust all myths surrounding the available COVID-19 vaccines.

As per reports, he has so far succeeded in persuading 80 people to visit nearby inoculation centres.

According to him, due to lack of awareness and the spread of misinformation, a fear has been instilled in people's mind, preventing them from getting themselves vaccinated.

Popularly known as "Vaccine man", Mazumder is currently convincing the daily wagers, particularly women and senior citizens, to get inoculated as they are a vulnerable group that could get infected by the virus.

His efforts have paid off as many people who were initially reluctant to take the vaccine due to rumours about the after-effects eventually got their jabs.

Today, Dipankar helped a senior citizen named S. Chaudhari to get his vaccination.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri, Dhrubajyoti Das, lauded his initiative and insisted that he should coordinate with the administration and collect relevant data to maximise the success of the initiative.
