It may be mentioned that the Amalgamated Plantation Private Limited (APPL) has decided to shift their principal office to Kolkata from Assam.

According to sources, over 40,000 people are working under the tea company and if the company shifts its offices from here (Assam) then it will have an adverse effect on the employees.

“Already the company has told the employees to shift themselves to Kolkata or tender their resignation,” said a source.

“The company’s head office was outside Assam, where no indigenous personnel from Assam were employed. Its liaison office was also not in Assam,” an Ulfa-I statement stated.

A letter undersigned by the outfit’s member of the publicity, Rumel Asom stated it will take action to prevent shifting of all its operations to Assam and recruitment of the local people of the state.

Recently, Ulfa-I have released two Quippo employees from their captivity.
