DIBRUGARH:

Two new oxygen generation plants will be officially made functional at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh on April 28.

"Each of the oxygen generation plants will produce oxygen gas equivalent to 100 numbers of jumbo cylinders. The two new plants will generate oxygen equivalent to 200 numbers of jumbo cylinders," informed an official from the AMCH.

The daily consumption of AMCH equivalent to 120 to 140 jumbo cylinders will be directly supplied to the hospital through a pipeline.

The rest of the oxygen equivalent to 60 -70 jumbo cylinders will be kept on reserve in case of an increase in demand at the AMCH.

Amid the shortage of oxygen supply in the country, the Assam Government has taken the initiative to produce oxygen in every district to meet the demand.

The AMCH authority said that the construction of the oxygen plants was started in October 2020 under the aegis of the Union Government and the supervision of the State Government.
