DIBRUGARH:

Tinsukia police seized 11,000 litres of condensate oil from the Barekuri area of the district on Tuesday.

According to the police, over 200 gallons were seized from various locations during an operation conducted under Jagjit Kumar, an official of Oil India Limited (OIL).

"We had received intelligence inputs about people stealing condensate after damaging the OIL pipeline. We will soon arrest the people involved in the theft. During the operation, we have seized the vehicles used in oil theft and transportation," Said Debojit Deuri, Tinsukia Superintendent of Police.

According to sources, oil theft and illegal oil trading have been prevalent in the area for many years, and the incident came to light only recently. "A gang is behind oil theft in the region and they are managing the whole nexus with the support of local people. Oil theft by damaging OIL pipelines is not a new thing," said a source in the police department.
