Assam: Tezpur University students design portable ventilators amid oxygen crisis

The machine developed by the university has IOT based features like monitoring of patient activity and controlling parameters of ventilator through an app.

As the country grapples with the deadly second wave of the pandemic, and the acute shortage of oxygen being reported from many hospitals in the county, people are trying ways and means to get the required supply of oxygen. 

Keeping this in mind, the Electrical Engineering Department of Tezpur University has designed a portable ventilator to help fight the current oxygen crisis.

The machine developed by the university has IOT based features like monitoring of patient activity and controlling parameters of ventilator through an app.

The machine will help patients with respiratory ailments breathe easily and overcome the problem related to COVID-19, the university said.

Students of the university namely Bihung Muchahary, Aniket Raj, Manish Kumar and Ankita Das are working on the project under the guidance of Chiranjit Adhikary (ex-guest faculty), Firdausa Ahmed (guest faculty member).

The project is being supervised by the Head of Electrical Engineering Department Prof. Soumik Roy.

The machine developed by the university will cost anything between 8,000-15,000 depending on their features.
