Assam: Tea pluckers injured in leopard attack in Charaideo

According to sources, Meghali Pator (29) and Tara Gorh (26), residents of no-3 labour line of the plantation were plucking tea leaves in the morning hours when suddenly a leopard emerged from the bushes and attacked on them.

Two tea garden workers of Doomor Dolong estate in upper Assam’s Charaideo district were injured after being attacked by a leopard on Tuesday morning. 

According to sources, Meghali Pator (29) and Tara Gorh (26), residents of no-3 labour line of the plantation were plucking tea leaves in the morning hours when suddenly a leopard emerged from the bushes and attacked them. 

After this, the two women who were injured were taken to Assam Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

It may be mentioned, forest officials said that a team has been despatched to the tea garden equipped with an iron cage and tranquilizer to trap and capture the leopard.

“We have spotted the leopard in the area for the last several days. The leopard had taken away our cattles in the cover of night. We have informed the forest official about the matter,” said a local resident.
